The new Radar Brothers LP will hit stores while the band is gearing up for a string of dates with Teenage Fanclub this fall. The album was released on CD by Merge Records in the spring of 2010 and by Chemikal Underground (Mogwai, Delgados, etc) in the UK/Europe. This is the first time a Radar Brothers full-length album will be released on vinyl format; have you been waiting awhile? Speaking of waiting-- for us here at Squid Vs. Whale, this marks our first LP release in over 5 years. We have a few of our previous titles still available -- French Kicks, Poster Children, Service Group and others, with more new releases to come.  If you're not familiar with Radar Brothers, be sure to check out one of their great live shows this fall (they're playing around the U.S. and Canada, dates listed here from the band's MySpace page). The guys will have copies of the LP at their shows well in advance of the in-store date (8/31).

From the Merge Records press release for The Illustrated Garden:

Jim Putnam has assembled a new band of brothers in bass player Be Hussey and drummer Stevie Treichel. The original line-up of Radar Bros died on January 29th, 2008. The band was on stage at the Echo in Los Angeles playing the record release show for their album Auditorium. After a brief hiatus, the new configuration of Radar Brothers began with live performances playing the old favorites.  Jim, Be and Stevie built a tight bond while touring together in the US and Europe. Writing together was the natural next step and in the spring of 2010, Merge Records released The Illustrated Garden on CD and online. The Illustrated Garden is the punchiest, most lyrically direct set of songs the band has released to date. The songs are unmistakably Radar Brothers, but the Treichel / Hussey rhythm section often pushes the band in unexpected directions.
